The Messenger
2010
Bronze
6.5 x 4 x 4 ft
The Messenger is Allan's larger than life masterpiece, about which he said:
“The work was initially inspired by Holocaust survivor, psychotherapist and author Victor Frankl's observation, "What is to give light, must endure burning."
Central to the message of the piece is the image of the burning void at the center of being and creation, from which all life force, wisdom and inspiration emerge - hence the cracked open and burning heart. As an archetype, The Messenger intends to be a tangible expression of personal transformation through sacrifice.”
